১। শিখতে দ্বিধা করো না:-
শেখা বলতে যে শুধু বইপত্র পড়েই শিখতে হবে তা না। আমাদের চারপাশের পরিবেশ আর মানুষ থেকে শেখার অনেক কিছুই আছে। একজন যোগ্য নেতা এই সুযোগটির পুরোপুরি সদ্ব্যবহার করেন।
আমরা নিজে নিজে কাজ করে কিছু শিখি। কিন্তু একজন নেতা হতে হলে তোমাকে অনেক দিকেই দৃষ্টি দিতে হবে। শুধু নিজের অভিজ্ঞতা না, অন্যের অভিজ্ঞতার মাঝে যদি শেখার কিছু থাকে তাহলে সেখান থেকেও শিক্ষা নিতে হবে। শিখতে যদি দ্বিধা করো তাহলে তুমি কোনদিন নেতৃত্ব দেয়ার গুণটি ফুটিয়ে তুলতে পারবে না।
তুমি যত বেশি শিখবে, নানারকম অবস্থার সাথে তুমি ততই খাপ খাইয়ে নিতে পারবে। তুমি যত বেশি শিখবে তত ভালোভাবে তুমি মানুষ চিনতে পারবে। তাই নিজেকে একজন নেতা হিসেবে গড়ে তুলতে চাইলে যে কোন কিছু থেকে শিক্ষা নিতে দ্বিধা করবে না।
২। মানুষকে বুঝতে পারা:-
একজন নেতা হিসেবে তোমাকে অনেক মানুষের সাথে কাজ করতে হবে। তারা হতে পারে তোমার সহকর্মী, হতে পারে তোমার ঊর্ধ্বতন বা অধস্তন কর্মকর্তা। যোগ্য নেতা হয়ে উঠতে চাইলে তাই মানুষকে বুঝতে পারার ক্ষমতাটি থাকা অনেক গুরুত্বপূর্ণ।

যদি মানুষকে বুঝতে চাও তাহলে মানুষের সাথে মেশা, তাদের সাথে কথা বলা, তাদেরকে গভীরভাবে পর্যবেক্ষণ করা জরুরি। তাহলে তুমি বুঝতে পারবে কখন কার সাথে কীভাবে কথা বলতে হবে বা কাকে কীভাবে বুঝাতে হবে।
৩। মানুষকে তাদের সামর্থ্য ও দূর্বলতা বুঝতে সাহায্য করা:-
একজন নেতার কাজ হচ্ছে তার সাথে যারা কাজ করে তারা কোন কাজে ভালো তা তাদের সামনে তুলে ধরা এবং সেগুলো কাজে লাগাতে সাহায্য করা। সেইসাথে তাদের দুর্বলতাগুলো চিহ্নিত করে সেগুলোকে শক্তিতে পরিণত করার উপায় দেখিয়ে দেয়া।
এর ফলে অনেকভাবেই লাভ হয়। প্রথমত, সবাই বুঝতে পারে তাদের কথা আলাদা করে ভাবা হচ্ছে। এতে করে তাদের উদ্যম বেড়ে যায়। দ্বিতীয়ত, এর মাধ্যমে সবাই তোমাকে অন্যদের চেয়ে আলাদা চোখে দেখা শুরু করবে। তৃতীয়ত, তাদের সামর্থ্যের জায়গাগুলো তুমি কাজে লাগাতে পারবে। এতে করে একটি সুন্দর ভারসাম্যপূর্ণ দল গড়ে উঠবে।

৪। একটি জিনিসকে বিভিন্নভাবে যাচাই করা:-
একজন নেতার অনেকগুলো গুণের মধ্যে একটি হচ্ছে, একটা জিনিসকে বিভিন্ন দিক থেকে ভাবতে পারা।
একটি ঘটনা বিভিন্ন কারণে ঘটতে পারে। তুমি যেটি ভাবছো সেটি কারণ নাও হতে পারে। যখন তুমি একটি ঘটনাকে বিভিন্ন দিক থেকে বিচার করবে তখনই তুমি আসল কারণ বুঝতে পারবে। আর এর মাধ্যমে কারণ আর কার্যকারণ সম্পর্কে ধারণা বাড়বে।
তাই নেতা হিসেবে গড়ে উঠতে চাইলে এখন থেকেই সবকিছু ঠান্ডা মাথায় পর্যালোচনা করার চর্চা শুরু করে দাও। এতে করে শেখা হবে আর যাচাই করার ক্ষমতাও বাড়বে।
৫। নতুন কিছু করার চেষ্টা কর:-
একটু অন্যভাবে চিন্তা করে নতুন কিছু করার চেষ্টা করাটা একজন নেতার বৈশিষ্ট্যকেই ফুটিয়ে তোলে। অনেক সময় ধরে চলে আসা একটি সাধারণ কার্যপ্রণালী মেনে চলার বদলে কীভাবে তা পরিবর্তন করে আরো ভালো ফল পাওয়া যায়- একজন নেতার মাথায় এই চিন্তাই থাকে।
পৃথিবীর বড় বড় নেতাদের জীবনী পড়লে আমরা এই জিনিসটি দেখতে পাই। হোক রাজনীতি অথবা ব্যবসা অথবা খেলাধুলা, তারা সবাই কোন না কোন পরিবর্তনের কথা ভেবেছেন যেটি সবার জন্য ভাল হবে।

একটি ঘটনা বিভিন্ন কারণে ঘটতে পারে। তুমি যেটি ভাবছো সেটি কারণ নাও হতে পারে। যখন তুমি একটি ঘটনাকে বিভিন্ন দিক থেকে বিচার করবে তখনই তুমি আসল কারণ বুঝতে পারবে। আর এর মাধ্যমে কারণ আর কার্যকারণ সম্পর্কে ধারণা বাড়বে।
তাই নেতা হিসেবে গড়ে উঠতে চাইলে এখন থেকেই সবকিছু ঠান্ডা মাথায় পর্যালোচনা করার চর্চা শুরু করে দাও। এতে করে শেখা হবে আর যাচাই করার ক্ষমতাও বাড়বে।
৫। নতুন কিছু করার চেষ্টা কর:-

নিজেকে যদি নেতা হিসেবে গড়ে তুলতে চাও তাহলে তোমাকেও একটু অন্যভাবে চিন্তা করার চেষ্টা করতে হবে। কোন কিছুতে একটি সাধারণ কার্যপদ্ধতি মেনে চলা উচিত, কিন্তু সেই সাথে এটাও চিন্তা করা উচিত যে কীভাবে কাজ করলে আরো ভালো ফল আসবে। তাই দেরি না করে নতুন কিছু করার চেষ্টা শুরু করো আজ থেকেই।
একজন নেতার বৈশিষ্ট্য মাত্র এই পাঁচটি জিনিসই নয়। একজন নেতা সবসময় চেষ্টা করে কীভাবে নিজেকে আরো ভালোভাবে গড়ে তোলা যায়, কীভাবে নতুন কিছু জানা যায়, কীভাবে নতুন কোন সুযোগ বের করা যায়, কীভাবে কোন কিছুকে আরো সহজবোধ্য করে তোলা যায়। তবে উপরের এই পাঁচটি অভ্যাস চর্চা করলে বাকি অনেক কিছুই আস্তে আস্তে আয়ত্বে আসে।
নেতৃত্ব শুধু রাজনৈতিক কোন ব্যাপার নয়, এটি আরো অনেক বিস্তৃত একটি ধারণা। যে কোন ক্ষেত্রেই নিজেকে আর দশজনের চেয়ে আলাদা করে প্রমাণ করতে পারলে তাকে নেতা বলা যায়। নেতা হিসেবে নিজেকে গড়ে তুলতে চাইলে ঠিকভাবে কাজ করে সহকর্মীদের আস্থা আর বিশ্বাস অর্জন করতে হবে। আর তাহলে মানুষই তোমাকে নেতার আসনে বসিয়ে দেবে।
